The opening week of the NFL is upon us as the San Francisco 49er’s travel to University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona to battle the defending NFC Champion Arizona Cardinals in what should be a tough early division test in the NFC West. Right now at betting shop Bookmaker.com which is “Where the Line Originates” the Arizona Cardinals are a six and one half point (- 6 ½) home favorite with the over / under wagering total of (46) points combined for both teams.
After handicapping this division matchup, I have decided to take the 6 ½ points with the 49ers this Sunday afternoon. The 49ers named Shaun Hill as the starting Quarterback, who has a 7-3 record as a starter. Hill in my opinion is the correct choice to lead this once dominate team, back to success. I am looking for the 49ers to rally around Hill and give the Super Bowl runner up Cardinals all they can handle. Hill and the 49er’s came up one yard shy from stealing this game last season in Arizona, before the clock ran out. This series has been dominated by the road team going 7-0 ATS last seven meetings. As well, the underdog is 5 wins and 1 loss “ATS last six meetings. The San Francisco 49er’s fall into both these categories.
Now lets talk about the Arizona Cardinals who are coming off of probably one of their most memorable seasons ever. Quarterback Kurt Warner is not getting any younger at the ripe age of 38 years old and with “Hollywood” Matt Leinard breathing down his neck, I don’t feel Warner doing as well as his 2008 season performance. Although, I think the Cardinals will be just better than a .500 ball club this year. Look for the Cardinals to have a little Super Bowl hangover and I don’t like giving almost a touchdown to a team that is on the rise, like the San Francisco 49er’s!
